Second edition forthcoming 2016
Dr Dragana Nikolic and I are currently working on a second edition of the book 'Virtual Reality and the Built Environment', which will be updated with information about the new wave of collaborative virtual reality, head-mounted displays and augmented and mixed reality and their use in the operation and maintenance, and design and production of the built environment. I would be keen to hear from you if you are a reader of the first edition with feedback, comments or suggestions for the revised version; or if you are actively using virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR) in the built environment and have new case studies or use cases that they would like to share.

Digital version of the book 'Virtual Reality and the Built Environment' available
This book is now available to preview and purchase in an electronic format, with an ISBN 9780080520667 at Amazon. First published in 2002, it is an introduction to interactive real-time 3D and its emerging uses in the construction industry. As it deals with the fundamental challenges of using technologies within projects, the book has been used at Masters level for nearly a decade. Since the book was out of print for a while, the associated website had not been refreshed, but as there is a growing readership of the electronic versions, this blog is currently being updated to provide more information of current research and practice in this area, particularly that being developed through the Design Innovation Research Centre, an exploration group at the University of Reading launched in January 2010.
